The two video games I will discuss today are: Darfur Is Dying and BMW M3 Challenge. Darfur Is Dying is an educational game created by MTVU. MTVU is a television program created for college students, in-between music videos MTVU runs educational advertising in an attempt to raise global awareness. Darfur Is Dying would be classified as an educational game. I feel the purpose of the game is to inform unaware humans about the troubles around the world, specifically Darfur, Africa. I attempted to play the game with all eight characters, however I was unsuccessful in forging for water. However, every time my character died a small informational "statement" was made informing me about the lives of the people from Darfur. The game did a good job at informing a somewhat oblivious person about the troubles in Darfur. However, I do believe the game is politically incorrect. Some people would feel that displaying a young African getting kidnap is politically wrong. The game does not seek to advertise any product or organization, it strictly focuses on educating unaware humans.
The second game I will discuss is BMW M3 Challenge. BMW M3 Challenge is a advergame created by BMW. One has to buy a BMW product in order to race. The game does a good job at showcasing its products. Once you buy a BMW you can then race, however, scripture scrolls down the screen creating a setting that most would love to drive through. I believe BMW did a good job at advertising its products.
My blog was created to inform people about advergames and educational video games. I even used specific examples such as Darfur Is Dying and BMW M3 Challenge to showcase my feelings about advertising in video games. If one finds my viewpoint interesting please comment me and I will be more than happy to discuss further issues.

Who would've thought companies would use video games to advertise their products? I think that's pretty creative and effective. I feel like video games are everywhere I look now! Before I only thought they were played at home while sitting in front of a tv waisting valuable hours, but I am learning that there are many different uses for them.
